IPEX Launches Canadian Training Vehicle for Hands-On PVC Water & Sewer Instruction for Ontario Municipalities

New mobile unit supports ongoing CEU-accredited PVC 101, 102, and 201 training programs for operators, inspectors, and utility crews.

OAKVILLE, ON, CANADA, DECEMBER 03, 2025 — IPEX, a leading manufacturer of thermoplastic piping systems, today announced the debut of its Municipal Training Vehicle, a mobile training platform designed to deliver practical, high-value PVC education directly to municipal operators, inspectors, and contractors across Ontario. The new vehicle supports IPEX’s established municipal training programs—PVC 101, PVC 102, and PVC 201—helping crews build skills in watermain and sewer pipe installation, maintenance, and product selection.

“The training vehicle allows us to bring a complete hands-on experience right to municipal yard and contractor shops and sites across the province,” says Nunzio LeRose, Municipal Technical Sales Representative at IPEX. “It’s fully outfitted with the pipes, fittings, tools, and pipe stands we need to teach proper installation techniques—whether we’re working with conventional C900, Fusible PVC, or Molecularly Oriented PVCO (Bionax).”

Hands-On PVC Training Covering Today’s Most Critical Water & Sewer Applications

The Municipal Training Vehicle supports three courses, each offering 0.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and delivered free of charge, with lunch included.

PVC 101: Water (0.4 CEUs) — MOEECC Director Approved

A four-hour classroom program focused on buried PVC watermain design, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair. Training includes:

• Review of current industry standards

• Installation methods, including open-cut, HDD, and pipe-bursting

• Design considerations for modern PVC water systems

• Completion of a short exam to earn CEUs.

PVC 102: Tapping (0.4 CEUs) — MOEECC Director Approved

A signature hands-on course combining a 30-minute overview with full practical training. Crews assemble PVC watermain sections using fittings, restraints, service saddles, and end caps before practicing tapping on:

• Dry Tap C900 PVC

• Fusible PVC

• Live Tap C909 PVCO

PVCO pipe sections are water-pressurized to simulate real-world conditions.

“Operators love this course because it’s real, hands-on work,” LeRose says. “We cover torque settings, restraints, tapping procedures, and all the do’s and don’t’s that help ensure a watermain is installed safely and correctly. Even seasoned crews walk away with new techniques and insights.”

PVC 201: Sewer (0.4 CEUs)

A classroom-based course covering:

• PVC sewer design and installation

• Testing, maintenance, and repair

• Sewer pipe rehabilitation

• Protection of sanitary drop structures with modern PVC solutions
